Biography

Heath Rose is a Professor of Applied Linguistics and the Director of People at Linacre College, University of Oxford. He began his teaching career in Australian Japanese schools after completing his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in 1997, transitioning to higher education later. He achieved his PhD in Education from the University of Sydney. His research interests primarily focus on language teaching and learning, particularly in areas such as self-regulation learner strategies, Global Englishes, the teaching of English as an international language, and English Medium Instruction (EMI). Heath has authored several books including 'Introducing Global Englishes' published by Routledge and 'Global Englishes in Language Teaching' by Cambridge. He is also a co-editor for the Cambridge Elements series on Language Teaching and has published various articles in leading journals such as 'Higher Education', 'Language Policy', and 'Applied Linguistics'. As the coordinator for the EMI Research Group, he supports doctoral applications from students interested in the pedagogical implications of Global Englishes and aims to assist under-represented groups in Oxford's community.
