Biography

Originally from Hong Kong and having spent much of her life in the U.S., Ho Kwan Cheung received her Ph.D. in Psychology from George Mason University in 2018. She worked as an assistant professor at the University at Albany, SUNY before joining the University of Calgary in 2022. Her research specializes in workplace discrimination and issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), with a particular focus on gender and family dynamics. Dr. Cheung has a broad interest in the experiences of marginalized employees, including refugees and LGBTQ+ individuals. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles on these topics, and her work is currently funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). In addition to her research, she holds teaching roles and serves as an expert witness in human resources cases involving employment discrimination and sexual harassment.
