Inge D. Brouwer (Ph.D.) is an Associate Professor in the Division of Human Nutrition at Wageningen University. Her research focuses on improving dietary quality among young women and children in low- and middle-income countries, utilizing agricultural food systems approaches with a special emphasis on reducing the burden of undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies, as well as addressing overnutrition. Dr. Brouwer has successfully acquired research funds from national funding programs and the EU Framework Programmes, collaborating with the food industry. She leads the Flagship Food Systems for Healthier Diets program, which is funded by the CGIAR, and is coordinated by the International Food Policy Research Institute. This program collaborates with organizations such as Bioversity International, CIAT, IFPRI, and IITA across countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Ethiopia. Dr. Brouwer aims to guide transformations in food systems for healthier diets for poor populations in a sustainable and equitable manner. Currently, she is involved in the OneCGIAR Initiative for Sustainable Healthy Diets and Food System Transformation (SHiFT) representing Wageningen University. She also participates in various ancillary activities including the ANH Academy and Stichting Van Dam Voedingsplan, which supports small projects linking agriculture and nutrition in developing countries.
