Dr. Ingela Valfridsson

Biography

Ingela Valfridsson teaches German Language Didactics, coordinating teacher education in minority languages and serving as assistant director of studies for Finnish, Meänkieli, and Sami German. Her work primarily revolves around educational issues from an administrative perspective. Valfridsson's teaching includes German and language didactics, with responsibilities encompassing supervision of thesis work and organizational aspects of teacher education. She is also the coordinator for teacher education at the Institute of Language Studies and shares leadership of the inter-university program committee for teacher training at grades 7-12. Her engagement in German teaching spans all levels and involves various categories of students. A significant part of her work focuses on national minority languages, for which she coordinates initiatives at the Institute for Minority Languages, tasked with developing and offering training in Meänkieli and Sami. This role necessitates regular collaboration with other universities and colleges in Sweden and the Nordic countries. Her research interests lie in foreign language didactics, particularly in grammar, writing, multilingualism, and in recent years, minority languages.
