Biography

James Rosenbaum is a prominent education researcher with expertise in the college-for-all movement, focusing on college attendance coaching and high-school-to-work transitions. His significant work includes researching the linkages between students, schools, and employers. Rosenbaum's extensive research output includes six published books, one of which, 'Bridging Gaps: College Pathways to Career Success,' has influenced the design of award-winning community college reforms and federal and state policies aimed at improving college access for low-income students. He conducted a major research project examining the effects of relocating poor inner-city black families to public housing in white middle-class suburbs of Chicago, known as the Gautreaux Program, which provided insights into educational outcomes and job opportunities. His findings played a part in prompting the federal government to establish the Moving to Opportunity (MTO) program. Rosenbaum has testified before Congressional committees multiple times and is a member of the Technical Review Panel for the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009, conducted by the U.S. Department of Education.
