Biography

Professor Janice Rymer qualified MBCHB in 1981 from the University of Auckland and began her specialist training in New Zealand. She moved to the UK in 1987 and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the same year. She later became a fellow of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 1990 and was awarded an MD thesis from the University of Auckland in 1994. Professor Rymer became a full professor at King's College London in 2005 and served as Dean of Undergraduate Medicine starting in 2010. She has special interests in Minimal Access Surgery, Ovarian Failure, Medical Education, and Female Genital Mutilation. Additionally, she has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers and authored 15 textbooks. Her extramural roles include being a member of the RCOG Council and Vice President for Education at RCOG since 2016. Her responsibilities include overseeing student affairs and professionalism committees.
