Biography

Before joining King’s College London, Jayne Kranat taught mathematics and statistics across a variety of schools for 17 years. She has gained six years of experience as a mathematics consultant for a local authority and worked for years at Canterbury Christ Church University as the mathematics lead on the Teach programme. Her examination work extends to various awarding bodies in England, covering levels as principal examiner, reviser, scrutineer, and moderator for mathematics and statistics at GCSE and GCE levels. Jayne has been involved in two-tier mathematics pilot examinations and in the development of a new mathematics GCSE pilot that consists of four modules for the GCE. Her work has also led to overseas contracts delivering teacher training for educators in Malaysia, Nepal, the USA, and Africa. Jayne is a co-author of numerous mathematics textbooks for Key Stage 3, GCSE, and IGCSE, and is also the sole author of statistics textbooks at the GCSE international level. Additionally, she contributed a chapter on assessment in the book 'Becoming a Teacher: Issues in Secondary Education, Sixth Edition.' Jayne has a particular interest in creative education and applying mathematics in the classroom, developing problem-solving resources on behalf of the Nuffield Foundation STEM resources and the Royal Academy of Engineering. She is affiliated with the Research Centre for Research in Education Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (CRESTEM).
