Biography

Jean Anderson is a nationally recognized vocal coach and pianist with extensive experience in operatic training and performance. She currently serves as a lecturer in music and voice at the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. Anderson has previously held the position of principal opera coach at the Boston Conservatory, where she focused on coaches for art song and operatic recitative and aria studies. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she works as a musical advisor and pianist for the Boston Opera Collaborative and is an organist and choir director at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scituate, MA. Her summer engagements include roles as a coach for various esteemed programs, such as the Berklee College of Music’s Summer Opera Intensive and the University of Alaska’s Summer Arts Festival. She is active in collaboration with many musical organizations and has participated in numerous performances throughout the United States and Europe. Anderson has authored 'Young Classical Singer’s Toolbox', which is available as an e-book on Amazon, and her distinguished education includes a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the New England Conservatory. Her principal teachers have included renowned artists such as Margo Garrett and Kayo Iwama.
