Biography

Dr. Jennifer Bryson is a Senior Lecturer and Program Director of the Elementary Education program at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Her research utilizes sociocognitive and sociocultural theories to examine the role of family literacy projects in bridging home and school literacy experiences. Dr. Bryson's interests include elementary education, literacy education, and family literacy. She has extensive experience as a classroom teacher in Chelsea Public Schools, and her responsibilities include teaching, advising, and coordinating student teachers in the elementary education program, including student-teaching abroad programs in London, England, and Sydney, Australia. She teaches courses on language arts methods and leads field seminars aimed at building positive classroom communities. Additionally, Dr. Bryson is the founder of the Teacher-to-Teacher mentoring initiative, which supports BU Wheelock graduates in their first year of teaching. She also facilitates family literacy initiatives in local schools, further enhancing her commitment to community education.
