Dr. Jessica Fei

Biography

Jessica Fei is a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, focusing on youth communities and addressing issues of injustice to promote collective well-being. Her research interests encompass youth-adult partnerships, critical youth work, place identity, social justice art, and liberatory models of education. As a scholar-practitioner, Fei has developed curricula for international online learning communities and engaged in youth participatory action research with Boston-based artists of color. Additionally, she has led programs for girls and gender-expansive youth in New York City and Newark, developing toolkits to support the mental health of middle and high school students. Fei has experience as a high school English teacher and teaching artist, working to coach educators in both school and out-of-school settings while facilitating professional development workshops on culturally-responsive pedagogy, youth voice participation, and transformative leadership. She is passionate about collaborating with practitioners to enhance knowledge regarding equity in education and designing inclusive learning environments that nurture critical consciousness and joy. Fei is a co-editor of the book 'Building Youth-Adult Partnerships in Out-of-School Time Settings' and her research has been featured in various reputable publications.
