Dr. Joakim Andersson

Biography

Joakim Andersson holds a PhD in Educational Work and serves as a Senior Lecturer focusing on Aesthetic Forms of Expression within Educational Sciences. His research interests primarily concern the pedagogical communication of sloyd teachers as a didactic tool, emphasizing the significance of students’ prior knowledge and the various ways teachers communicate in both compulsory and higher education settings. He has contributed significantly to the professional development of sloyd educators across Nordic countries, including Denmark, Estonia, and the Faroe Islands. His ongoing projects include examining assessment practices in sloyd teacher education, delving into the communication strategies employed in craft-based teaching, and leading research collaborations aimed at standardizing sloyd education across the region. Joakim is also involved in the revision of curriculum instructions, enhancing the teacher education framework for the Swedish National Agency for Education. His doctoral dissertation analyzes the varied communication techniques used by sloyd teachers and their impact on student learning outcomes, framing communication as an active, multidimensional process essential for effective teaching. Joakim has presented his findings at multiple conferences, contributing to the discourse on sloyd education and its integration into contemporary pedagogy.
