Biography

Joe Barrett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Brock University. He holds an EdD and is available for graduate advisement. Barrett specializes in school health policy, health, and physical education pedagogy and has taught a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including B.Ed. courses focused on health education and graduate M.Ed. courses centered on health policy and curricula. His leadership roles include serving as the Ontario representative on the Physical Health Education Canada Board of Directors and co-chairing the PHE Canada National Research Forum. Barrett's research interests encompass culturally responsive pedagogy, sport coaching pedagogy, problem-based learning, and he is actively involved with the Canadian Society for the Study of Education and the International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education. His commitment to education and research contributes to enhancing the quality of health education in Canada.
