Biography

Joe Fagan is the Programme Director for MA TESOL at King's College London, where he has been involved since January 2021. He began his career as an English language teacher with the British Council in Spain and at Complutense University of Madrid. Over the years, Joe’s role evolved to include teacher training in Trinity College Certificate and Diploma programs along with TESOL and Cambridge Distance Delta courses. He completed his PhD in 2019 at Aston University, focusing on teaching and learning modality genres in pre-sessional academic writing. His research interests are centered around teacher development, teaching and learning in higher education settings, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), learner academic writing, materials design and evaluation, teacher education, and reflective practice. Joe contributes to teaching on various modules across BA English Language Linguistics and MA TESOL, and is keen to supervise postgraduate research related to these areas. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and serves as an external examiner for UG and MA programs in TESOL and Applied Linguistics.
