Biography

Juan Carlos Rocha Osornio is an Associate Professor in the Teaching Stream at the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Toronto. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English Language Literature and his Master's degree in Spanish at East Texas A&M University. He moved to Canada to complete his Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies at Western University. In addition to his academic qualifications, he holds certificates in Sexuality, Culture, and Society from the University of Amsterdam and Spanish Foreign Language Pedagogy from the Universidad de Salamanca. Moreover, he is certified in Effective College Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators. His research primarily focuses on Foreign Language Pedagogy, Mexican History, Literature, and Culture. He has authored the book 'El espacio torcido en la narrativa mexicana de temática homosexual masculina' (2015), which analyzes works of four Mexican writers dealing with male homosexuality. In recent years, Dr. Rocha Osornio has published peer-reviewed articles on topics including Spanish for Chinese Speakers, Community-Engaged Learning, and Teachers' Training Programs.
