Julie Reeves is a Principal Teaching Fellow based at the Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP). Her current focus is on research staff, where she designs professional development interventions based on needs analyses and evaluations to achieve impactful outcomes. Julie is engaged in research capacity strengthening and designing delivery methods for research leadership programmes, while also supporting equitable international research relationships. She works with postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers, as well as doctoral supervisors and researcher managers, to foster a research culture and organizational change. Her current research interests are centered on capacity development, specifically international research capacity development. Julie explores the types of interventions necessary to enable researchers to receive structural support from institutions and the wider sector, ultimately facilitating a positive and enabling environment for research both in the UK and internationally. She draws on experiences from the BRECcIA-GCRF project to inform her work with colleagues at the University and beyond, contributing to the development of research leadership programmes at the University Hospital Southampton.
