My research focuses on understanding the social interactions in educational settings and how they influence motivation and learning. At the University of Glasgow's School of Education, I serve as a joint director for the University of Glasgow Education Assessment Network. I teach and supervise the MSc Psychological Studies programme, lead the Human Development course for online MSc Psychology students, and contribute lectures on child development in the MEduc programme. My research emphasizes the social aspects of learning and motivation in schools, particularly the influence of peer relations on academic motivation. As a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, I have extensively examined how social connections influence academic achievement and motivation. My recent projects include exploring the relationships between assessment and learning progression and developing new conceptual models for academic help-seeking. I engage directly with schools to implement research findings and oversee numerous PhD projects within the School of Education, fostering a collaborative academic environment.
