Dr. Karen Cohen Gazith

Biography

Karen Cohen-Gazith is a Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University with over twenty years of teaching experience. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education. Previously, she was the Dean of Academics at Montreal's Azrieli Schools, which include Talmud Torah (elementary) and Herzliah (high school). Karen has dedicated her career to leveraging her educational expertise within the Jewish community, including serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Bronfman Jewish Education Center. Over her 18-year journey, she has significantly contributed to special needs education, having directed a resource program at Hebrew Academy and taught at various institutions, including the Instrumental Enrichment Institute led by renowned cognitive psychologist Dr. Reuven Feuerstein. Karen has worked at notable institutions such as Hebrew College and Boston University of New Brunswick. She has presented on diverse educational topics related to classroom instruction and leadership across multiple countries. Dr. Gazith is the author of several books, including "Teaching with Purpose: Thoughtfully Implement Evidence-Based Practices in the Classroom" and her latest publication, "The Power of Effective Reading Instruction: Neuroscience Informs Instruction Across Grades and Disciplines."
