Biography

Karoline Trepper is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the English Education Teacher Residency Program at NYU Steinhardt. She primarily works in the Teacher Residency Program as a Residency Director and English Content Mentor, while also serving as a course instructor. Karoline received her PhD in Teacher Education focusing on Race, Inequality, and Language Education from Stanford University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English from NYU and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wake Forest University. Before joining NYU, Karoline taught middle and high school English in the NYC Public Schools and Aspire Public Schools in Oakland, CA. She has supported emerging teachers through her involvement in the Stanford Teacher Education Program and coached practicing teachers as part of the Hollyhock Fellowship Program. Karoline’s practice and scholarship examine numerous facets of teaching and teacher education, including teaching performance assessments, project-based learning design, and school-university partnerships in teacher education. Karoline is committed to promoting critical curriculum and pedagogy that fosters expansive, equitable, and culturally sustaining teaching and learning in English Language Arts classrooms.
