Biography

Kathleen Kerrigan is a lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, where she leads and teaches several programs, including the Postgraduate Certificate in Middle Leadership and Management in Schools and the MEd in Educational Leadership. Before joining the university in January 2018, she worked as a Development Officer for the Scottish College of Educational Leadership, focusing on online learning resources. With over twenty years of teaching experience in Scottish secondary schools, she has held various middle leadership roles, specifically in Support for Learning and Home Economics. Kathleen's master's thesis examined pupil perspectives on the strategies used to support learning in mainstream schools, and her current research interests include middle leadership, professional learning, and the capacity for leadership in initial teacher education. She is also engaged in doctoral supervision and is currently completing her own thesis, which explores the perspectives of middle leaders in secondary schools in Scotland, with a particular focus on professional learning.
