Biography

Kristina Edström is an Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in Engineering Education Development. With a background in educational development, she has been instrumental in reforming engineering education both nationally and internationally since 1997. Edström holds an MSc in Engineering from Chalmers University and a PhD in Technology Learning from KTH. She is a co-founder of the CDIO Initiative which focuses on innovation in engineering education. Her book contributions include being a co-author of' Crawley et al. (2014) Rethinking Engineering Education: The CDIO Approach'. As an active member of SEFI, she edits the European Journal of Engineering Education. Edström has developed and led various courses at KTH including the Doctoral Supervision course and the 'Teaching and Learning Higher Education' course. Her current research critically examines the 'what', 'why', and 'how' of engineering education development, focusing on the tensions between academic and professional aspects within the curriculum and institutional contexts.
