Biography

Laura Loewen is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba. As a collaborative pianist, Loewen has gained renown for her expressivity and virtuosity, performing concerts across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. Loewen is also a founding faculty artist and current Board Chair of the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) and a long-time member of the faculty for the NUOVA opera training program in Edmonton, Alberta. She holds degrees in Music Performance, including a Bachelor’s from Brandon University, a Master’s from McGill University, and a Doctorate from the University of Minnesota. Loewen co-founded 'Dream Big: Music Bounds', a conference celebrating the contributions of collaborative pianists, further illustrating her commitment to music education and innovation. She has received multiple grants and awards supporting her creative work, including from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Manitoba Arts Council. Her performance highlights include collaborations with notable artists and ensembles, showcasing her versatility in both traditional and contemporary repertoires.
