Biography

Lauren Goegan holds a PhD in Psychological Studies in Education from the University of Alberta. Her research and teaching focus on important inclusive pedagogies and the transition from high school to postsecondary education with an emphasis on adaptive motivation. Dr. Goegan regularly incorporates motivation theories into her research, such as Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Attribution Theory, Expectancy-Value Theory, and Mindsets. She is a long-time advocate for individuals with Learning Disabilities (LD) and collaborates on projects aimed at supporting these individuals in their academic pursuits. Furthermore, given the recent shift in education towards increased online learning, Dr. Goegan has examined the impact of instructional assessment on university students with LD regarding their motivation, engagement, and perceptions of success. Her areas of specialization include Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), and Differentiated Instruction (DI), as well as the social and emotional aspects of learning.
