Dr. Linda Ban

Biography

Linda is a Lecturer in Physiology at Macquarie University, where she serves as the Physiology Discipline Lead for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. With a PhD that investigated the pathophysiology of liver disease progression in the context of obesity and diabetes, Linda transitioned into academia after initially becoming a casual academic. Her passion for teaching was solidified when she earned her accreditation as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Over the past nine years, she has taught eighteen units across four universities, primarily focusing on science, medical science, and allied health degrees. Linda is involved in several committees and programs, including serving as an early career representative on the Macquarie Medical School Education Committee and co-chairing the MQ Neurodiversity Community of Practice. She is also a mentor for the FMHHS Graduate Researcher Mentoring program and contributes as a reviewer for the Higher Education Research Development Society Australasia (HERDSA). Currently, she is focused on integrating core physiology concepts into learning resources, particularly examining the impact of cognitive load on student learning.
