Biography

Liz Coulson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga, currently on leave for her role in Education Studies. She holds a PhD in Education from Western University as well as degrees from Brock University, Niagara University, and Western University. Coulson has a rich background in curriculum design and has served in various roles, including as the Secondary Practicum Coordinator for the initial Teacher Education Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Her research interests lie in exploring instructional modalities that advance teaching and learning, including projects focused on culturally responsive social entrepreneurship. She is a co-founder of UTM’s supplemental education course and has designed international experiential learning courses for students in Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America. Additionally, she has been actively involved with the Ministry of Education, contributing to educational innovations and frameworks. Her teaching and research interests encompass teacher education, professional learning, and experiential learning, with a strong emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
