Biography

Lucy Wood's career includes eight years in banking finance before moving into science education. With project management and departmental leadership experience across a range of settings, she has been involved in developing and delivering professional development programs for primary science teachers focused on enhancing learning through scientific inquiry and practical work. Lucy joined King’s College London in 2016 after completing a Master's in Science Education, awarded through the Rosalind Driver studentship, and later pursued a PhD. In 2022, she completed her doctoral thesis and joined the School of Education, Communication & Society as a Lecturer in Chemistry Education, teaching on the Science PGCE program. She continues her involvement in science education research, specifically focusing on science practical work in primary and secondary education. As an active member of the Association for Science Education’s national primary committee, Lucy regularly presents at conferences and seminars. In 2020, she managed a project to develop primary science remote learning resources in response to school closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
