Lynne Cooper is a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow. She taught Physical Education in secondary and primary schools from 2010 and has worked extensively in the sector as an Active Schools Coordinator. From 2014 to 2016, Lynne worked with Education Scotland and Inverclyde Council to support the delivery of quality Physical Education and develop staff confidence, particularly in the primary sector. She has been involved in leadership programmes and has represented local authorities on national steering groups, including the Raising Attainment Early Years Collaborative and the National Network for Outdoor Learning. Lynne is also a member of the Scottish Advisor’s Panel for Outdoor Education. She is the course leader for the School Experience PGDE and MEduc ITE programmes and has worked with nursery and primary schools to enhance staff confidence in delivering outdoor learning experiences. Lynne’s current research interest focuses on exploring the role of nature in School Experience and its impact on preparedness to teach in ITE settings. She is keen to further develop her research interests in Learning through Play and Outdoor Learning, and is currently exploring Play Pedagogy in Higher Education settings to support effective learning and teaching.
