Biography

Moss Shukla is a Lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, specifically in the Brain and Cognition program group. He has a background in biology and received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy. Following his doctorate, he completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester in New York, USA. He previously held the position of Assistant Professor in Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where he co-directed the UMass Boston Baby Lab. Shukla's research focuses on language cognition and language acquisition, examining how these areas relate to broader cognitive processes. His research employs various methodologies, including online experimentation, remote eye-tracking, and near-infrared spectroscopy. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he supervises undergraduate and master's theses, coordinates the Memory, Language, Emotions course, and serves as the MA Coordinator for the Brain & Minds program. He is also engaged in writing popular science stories.
