Biography

Maria Bannert is a professor specializing in the educational psychological aspects of teaching and learning digital media. Her experimental research focuses on online analysis of learning processes and exploratory quasi-experimental research in the field. The general aim of her work is to support and advance teaching and learning in digital media contexts. She studied psychology at the University of Heidelberg and worked at several institutes, including the Human Factors Lab of the IBM Scientific Center in Heidelberg. She obtained her doctoral degree and postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) from the University of Koblenz-Landau. Maria held an interim professorship in Educational Psychology at Heidelberg University of Education in 2004, and later became the chair-holder for Educational Media at Chemnitz University of Technology. In 2011, she was appointed Chair of Instructional Media at the Institute of Human-Computer-Media at the University of Würzburg. Since October 2015, she has held the Chair for Teaching and Learning Digital Media at Technische Universität München.
