Biography

Martha Koch is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba, specializing in mathematics education and classroom assessment. She has a strong commitment to identifying and addressing inequities in K-12 and post-secondary education. Prior to her academic career, Martha was a middle years teacher in Ottawa, Ontario. In her role as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Partnerships, she focuses on initiatives that enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE) programs. Martha works closely with the Associate Dean of Indigenous Education to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are reflected in meaningful ways within these programs. She strives to increase the Faculty's capacity to provide holistic and accessible supports to students as they complete their programs. Her areas of specialization include mathematics education, classroom assessment, and validity theory.
