Biography

Martin Fischer is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He earned his Master of Medical Education (MME) from the University of Bern, Switzerland. Since August 2011, he has been a full professor and director of the Institute for Didactics and Educational Research in Medicine (DAM) at LMU Klinikum Munich. In November 2012, he was elected as the study dean (clinic) of the Faculty of Medicine at LMU Munich. He also chairs the Committee for Teaching and Studies at LMU Munich. Fischer is the chief editor of the journal Medical Education (JME), a reviewer for numerous journals and institutions, and served as the chair of the German Society for Medical Education (GMA) from 2011 to 2017. He has published over 350 articles and his research interests lie in the areas of clinical decision-making, digital teaching and learning, and faculty development.
