Biography

Megan Cotnam-Kappel holds a Research Chair in Digital Thriving Franco-Ontarian Communities and serves as an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for the Francophone portfolio at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Education. She is an expert in educational technology and minority-language education, having completed a doctoral degree at l’Université de Corse Pascal Paoli and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research agenda focuses on empowering youth and teachers through the development of digital literacy skills, particularly in relation to the Maker movement, coding, and digital citizenship. Cotnam-Kappel is deeply committed to addressing the digital use divide affecting minority groups in Canada. She is a member of the CHENINE team and a researcher for the Canadian Playful Schools Network (CPSN). Additionally, she is the principal investigator on the 'Exploring Digital Lives Youth' project in the Researcher Residence INNOVA.
