Biography

Dr. Melissa Bouwsema is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen's University. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine with the Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) designation and further specialized in Resuscitation and Reanimation through a fellowship. Dr. Bouwsema's academic interests focus on improving education quality, particularly in procedural skills training and transition planning, as well as the organization and design of medical equipment. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is involved with Ornge, Ontario’s critical care transport service, where she is expanding her skill set in Prehospital Retrieval Medicine. Outside of her professional life, Melissa enjoys outdoor activities such as paddle boarding, hiking, and spending time on patios.
