Biography

Mijung Kim is a professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. She holds a PhD from the University of Alberta and has worked at notable institutions including Seoul National University in Korea and the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Her teaching and research experiences span various parts of the world, where she has developed extensive knowledge and understanding of curriculum and pedagogy, especially regarding sociocultural relations in both local and international contexts. Her research interests include teaching science inquiry, children’s scientific reasoning, dialogical argumentation, and the genre of scientific communication. Her current research projects involve socioscientific reasoning, problem-solving sustainability, and developing teachers' professional vision and pedagogical reflection practices. In addition to her research, she teaches various courses including Curriculum Pedagogy for Elementary School Science and Qualitative Research Methods in Education.
