Biography

Mindy Ptolomey is an award-winning researcher and teacher currently serving as an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Education, University of Glasgow. She is also a member of the Glasgow Centre for Disability Research. Her expertise lies in researching teaching methods with marginalized learners in both formal and non-formal educational contexts, employing creative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary approaches. Mindy's work addresses intersections involving gender, disability, neurodivergence, and youth, and focuses on devising transformative research practices that facilitate educational inclusion. She is dedicated to co-designing and facilitating creative and inclusive research practices that prioritize knowledge exchange and impact, striving to reimagine and theorize experiences of educational exclusion. Holding a PhD in Sociology from the University of Glasgow, she has previously served as a Lecturer in Sociology at Glasgow Caledonian University. Before her academic career, Mindy worked for a decade as a community learning development leader in various non-formal educational initiatives addressing social injustice both in Scotland and internationally.
