Dr. Nale Lehmann Willenbrock

Biography

Nale Lehmann-Willenbrock is a Professor of Industrial Organizational Psychology at the University of Hamburg. Her research focuses on the significant influence of social context in shaping behavior experiences, particularly in dynamic team processes and leader-follower interactions over time. She emphasizes analyzing meetings as central interaction settings to study leadership and collaboration within organizations. Her work often utilizes advanced research methodologies from industrial-organizational psychology, including quantitative interaction analysis and video software-supported behavioral observation methods. Recently, she has been integrating artificial intelligence as a research tool to identify systematic behavioral patterns in new interaction contexts such as team meetings and cooperative learning environments. Nale has held various academic roles, previously serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam and an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has also worked as a research associate at Technische Universität Braunschweig, focusing on industrial/organizational social psychology. In addition to her teaching and research, she is involved in institutional leadership roles, including Vice Dean for Research Transfer and Director of the Center Work.
