Biography

Nermeen Dashoush is a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Her work focuses on leveraging media technology to expand access to high-quality STEM education for young learners. Her research examines the discourse between adults and children to enhance learning, elevate classroom quality, and extend STEM exploration in informal learning spaces. As a principal investigator for grants, including a National Science Foundation award, she co-designs AI literacy and computational thinking experiences for families. She has helped create award-winning educational apps for children's television programs, contributing as part of Emmy-nominated production teams, with those digital resources being utilized in thousands of classrooms nationwide. Dr. Dashoush's current work explores culturally relevant design to strengthen children's STEM and AI literacy while fostering inclusive, community-driven learning ecosystems. Her educational journey began in New York City, where she worked as a public school teacher and developed STEM programs for young children. Before joining Boston University, she taught curriculum improvement in science education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and mentored both preservice and in-service teachers.
