Nicola joined the University of Glasgow's School of Education in 2021 with 20 years of teaching expertise in a range of secondary science education contexts. She has 5 years of experience as an associate tutor in PGDE physics and chemistry master's programs, having previously led education courses at the University of Dundee. Nicola began her teaching career in Malawi as a physical science teacher before returning to Scotland, where she taught physics and science in Stirling and Angus local authorities. Throughout her career, Nicola has made key contributions to various organizations, including the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), the Association for Science Education (ASE), the Institute of Physics (IOP), and Education Scotland. Currently, she serves as the ITE Physics representative on the IOP Scotland Education committee. Her research interests focus on supporting local schools in implementing practitioner enquiry and the impacts of these collaborations, as well as exploring the academic transitions of international taught postgraduate students and the barriers to entry in initial teacher education.
