Biography

Pascal Beckers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Geography and Planning at Radboud University, specializing in issues related to migrant inclusion, employment, housing, and psychosocial wellbeing. He coordinates both small and large-scale research projects funded by the European Union, ZonMw, and NWO, focusing on topics such as foreign skills recognition, cultural diversity management policies, and the labour market integration of refugees and irregular migrants. He leads the Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion (RUNOMI), which comprises over 140 scholars specializing in migrant inclusion issues. Beckers is currently managing the Horizon Europe projects DignityFirm and GS4S, addressing conditions for irregular migrants in agricultural labor sectors and exploring global skills shortages, respectively. His research also involves examining the impact of COVID-19 on migrant workers in the Netherlands and addressing structural barriers faced by these communities. Beckers has been instrumental in developing interventions aimed at fostering mental health and social networks among refugees to enhance their labor market participation, working in collaboration with various local and national agencies.
