Biography

Paul Lynch joined the Culture, Literacies, Inclusion and Pedagogy research and teaching group in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow in October 2020. He was previously a member of the Department of Disability, Inclusion, and Special Needs at the University of Birmingham and is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Vision Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research (VICTAR) at the University of Birmingham. Paul has conducted commissioned research for Sightsavers on the educational and social inclusion of children with disabilities in sub-Saharan Africa from 2006 to 2019. His research interests focus on children, childhood, and disability in the Global South, particularly on the relationship between education, health, and social protection for children with neuro-developmental disabilities. He leads research on early childhood education and disability in Malawi and is involved in several research studies across Bangladesh, Nepal, and Tanzania. Paul is a full member of the Disability Society Editorial Board for the British Journal of Visual Impairment and serves as the editor for the International Journal of Educational Development.
