Biography

Raquel Fernández-Sánchez has an established academic career with a focus on language pedagogy and Hispanic studies. She completed her MA in Latin American Studies at Universidad de Salamanca and subsequently obtained her PhD while teaching at the University of Exeter's Hispanic Studies Department for seven years. Following her time at Exeter, she moved to Aston University, where she taught in the Department of Languages and Translation Studies for 17 years and held various academic roles, including Head of Spanish and Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching. In 2021, Raquel joined the Language Centre at King's College London, where she teaches Spanish at multiple levels and coordinates language modules as the Language Director. Her interests include the development of teaching strategies, student experience policies, and fostering collaboration between students and staff. Raquel serves as an External Examiner for Cardiff University and the University of Bath and has been recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2016. In 2024, she received the King's Education Award for excellent feedback from students.
