Ruth Adler Ben Yehuda holds a B.A. degree in Hebrew Arabic Language and an M.A. degree in Hebrew Language from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She has been teaching at Brown University since 1989, where she instructs beginning, intermediate, and advanced Hebrew language courses. Ruth served as the Head Teacher for Hebrew Language Instruction at the Rothberg School for Overseas Studies of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where she was responsible for supervising, training, and creating study materials for Hebrew teachers. Additionally, she was the Pedagogical Director of the Division of Adult Education at ORT Israel, managing an extensive adult education division with thirty-five vocational courses. Ruth was instrumental in developing educational programs and guiding students to meet the requirements set by the Israeli Ministry of Education. She also founded and directed the Providence Ulpan, TAMAR, Hebrew Ulpan in Rhode Island, and coordinated Hebrew language instruction at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island in Providence. In July 2016, Ruth was appointed Chair of the Pedagogy Committee for the National Association of Professors of Hebrew. In recognition of her contributions to teaching, she received the Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Undergraduate Council of Students at Brown University in 2005. Ruth's research focuses on Hebrew language pedagogy, the integration of language learning technology, and the teaching of foreign languages, with a particular interest in music and the history of the Hebrew language, including Semitic languages and Judeo-Arabic.
