Biography

Sara Schroeter is an Associate Professor in Arts Education and Drama Education at the University of Regina, where she directs the Centre for Educational Research, Collaboration, and Development (CERCD). Her research focuses on drama as an aesthetic art form and its role in multimodal literacy practices, particularly concerning the differences of race, class, gender, and sexuality within schools serving multiracial student populations. Her work has investigated issues related to Francophone minority language schools in Quebec, and she has expanded her focus to explore the representational practices involved in musical theatre productions in both English and French immersion schools in the prairies, as well as in professional stages. Dr. Schroeter is currently collaborating with elementary school teachers and her colleague, Dr. Joël Thibeault, on a project that examines the use of drama to teach French in Francophone schools. Her research interests lie at the crossroads of anti-racist and decolonizing pedagogies, drama, cultural production, literacy, and minority language education.
