Biography

Silvia Sobral completed her Licenciatura in English Language Literature at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and later pursued an MA in Teaching English Language at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has extensive experience in teaching and coordinating Spanish courses at Brown University where she developed and taught Spanish language courses at various levels, including Introduction to Hispanic Linguistics and Theory and Practice of Foreign Language Teaching and Learning. She has co-authored four editions of 'Dicho y Hecho: Beginning Spanish' published by Wiley and has contributed materials for textbooks published on language teaching. Her professional interests lie in Language Acquisition, Teaching Pedagogy, Heritage Language Acquisition, and Foreign Language Teacher Training, with a specific emphasis on Sociolinguistics, particularly in Spanish.
