I hold an established Chair in Education. Having transitioned to my current role in 2022, I am the UNESCO Chair in International Education Development at the University of Nottingham. Additionally, I serve as a visiting professor at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. My work encompasses a wide range of aspects concerning the education-development relationship, specifically focusing on skills development, vocational learning, and various forms of work as integral to human development. My research spans across Africa and includes endeavors in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. I also act as a government scientific advisor in both the UK and South Africa, which involves extensive international policy work, particularly with organizations like UNESCO, the Commonwealth, and SADC.
