Biography

Sorin-Cristian Vlădescu is a Lecturer in the Department of Engineering at King's College London and an Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College London. He studied Automotive Engineering at the University Politehnica Bucharest, where he obtained his BSc in Automatic Transmissions in 2007 and his MSc in Automotive Safety in 2009. Over the past seven years, Sorin has developed a range of innovative experimental methods to support the innovation processes of market leaders in various industries, including Toyota, Ford, and Volvo Trucks, aiming to enhance competitive advantage while adhering to environmental sustainability standards. His research has addressed real-world challenges such as seal failure in aircraft reciprocating shaft seals and energy efficiency in Start-Stop vehicles. Sorin's contributions to research have been recognized with the IMechE Tribology Trust Bronze Medal in 2017 and several innovation patents. He is also a beneficiary of the prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowship, where he collaborated with Yokohama National University on solutions for durability issues, emphasizing green tribology and bio-tribology in sustainable product development.
