Dr. Steven Capaldo

Biography

Steven Capaldo is an esteemed music educator and conductor with international recognition. He is currently an Associate Professor of Music Education and Conducting at the University of Victoria in Canada. His career has included significant positions in Australia, notably at the University of Wollongong and as the Conductor of the Sydney University Wind Orchestra. Capaldo is actively involved in composing and arranging music for wind orchestras and has had works performed across Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States. His creativity earned him acclaim as a finalist in international composition competitions, and he has published works with Brolga Music in Australia. An accomplished conductor, Capaldo has been involved in numerous festivals, serving as a clinician and adjudicator at local, national, and international levels. He was the Chief Conductor for the British Columbia Honor Wind Ensemble. His dedication also extends to providing professional development to music educators through various workshops and events. Capaldo has played essential roles in producing recordings for Klavier Records and became a full voting member of the Grammy Awards in 2010, further cementing his status in the music community.
