Biography

Tiffany Chiu is a Principal Teaching Fellow in Educational Development at Imperial College London, where she is the Academic Head of StudentShapers. She teaches in the MEd ULT program, focusing on enhancing learning, teaching, and assessment practices across academic disciplines. Tiffany has a decade of experience in supporting foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate students in developing academic literacy and research skills. Her contributions include the initiation of various formative and summative assessments aimed at promoting a balanced curriculum that fosters student engagement. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from King’s College London, as well as a Master of Science in Education in TESOL from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in English Language & Applied Linguistics from Yuan Ze University in Taiwan. Her research and teaching interests span student transitions, assessment feedback practices, and identity development in higher education. Currently, she is leading the FLAIR Project, focusing on the perceptions of students and staff regarding effective feedback practices, particularly the integration of Generative AI in feedback. Additionally, she directs initiatives aimed at supporting underrepresented students in STEMM fields, including action research targeting the development of academic voice among students. Tiffany's innovative approaches aim to integrate academic skills into the curriculum and enhance employability and lifelong learning.
