Dr. W Neuman

Biography

W. Russell Neuman is a Professor at NYU Steinhardt, specializing in media technology and digital education. He previously held the position of John Derby Evans Professor at the University of Michigan and has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directed the Information and Society Program of the Annenberg Public Policy Center. Neuman served as a Senior Policy Analyst at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, focusing on information technology and broadband policy. His scholarly contributions include significant works such as 'Digital Difference: Media Technology Theory Communication Effects' (Harvard University Press, 2016) and 'Media, Technology, Society: Theories Media Evolution' (University of Michigan Press, 2010). He has taught at prestigious institutions like Harvard and Yale, and was one of the founding faculty members of the MIT Media Laboratory. Neuman's current research areas include educational outcomes, information overload, and the economics of information, as well as assessment methods for learning in the classroom.
