Yining Wang is currently an honorary postdoctoral associate in the Department of Linguistics at Macquarie University. He completed his PhD in Applied Linguistics at Macquarie University in August 2020. His PhD thesis explores heritage language maintenance among Chinese migrant children in Australia. His research interests cover bilingual education, multilingualism, heritage language maintenance, and the education of Chinese migrant children, as well as the role of Chinese immigrant religion in Australia. Yining holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Translation, which he obtained from Hunan University of Science and Technology and Jinan University in Guangzhou, China, respectively. He is a member of the Language on the Move research team and contributes to research blogs on their website. Prior to pursuing his PhD studies in Australia, Yining worked as a lecturer for eleven years at the Zhuhai Campus of Beijing Normal University in China. He has also worked as a research assistant investigating home-school communication during the COVID-19 school closures as part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project ‘Everyday Intercultural Communication in Australia’ led by Distinguished Professor Ingrid Piller.
