Biography

Magda Tigchelaar received her M.A. in French Studies from the University of Guelph and her Ph.D. in Language Studies from Michigan State University. She specializes in language writing, language assessment, and teaching methods, with a focus on genre-based language pedagogy. Her current research includes identifying relevant language tasks for writing French programs using GenAI corrective feedback. Tigchelaar teaches courses that help students develop texts published for diverse purposes and applies rigorous methods for summarizing academic articles. Her selected publications address the challenges and methodologies in language education, emphasizing task-based approaches and writing development. Tigchelaar is involved in several academic initiatives, including grants for writing course development and evaluation programs, highlighting her commitment to enhancing the language learning experience.
